“No power can withstand divine Love.” Could that possibly be true? Maryl Walters, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, finds this idea courageous and bold, as well as deeply comforting. “This statement, written by the Discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, gives me hope for finding solutions to all kinds of problems,” says Mrs. Walters.
Mrs. Walters will present a talk, “The Healing Power of Divine Love,” Sunday April 30th, 2017 at 2:30pm. She will discuss and give examples from her public ministry of how she has seen this divine Love bring peace, strength, and health to families and communities. She will explore fresh concepts from the Bible, especially from the life and teachings of Christ Jesus. She’ll also draw on Mary Baker Eddy’s main work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, a book based on the Bible that explains how anyone can experience the power of divine Love in action.
“To me, divine Love is God,” says Mrs. Walters in her lecture. “If we think of things that make the world better—peace treaties, economic revitalization, higher employment, stable families, food distribution, civic respect and responsibility—the basic ingredient that makes these efforts helpful to humanity is love, our expression of divine Love. Love, moving each of us for good and bringing practical healing perspectives, is central to something as big as regional peace or as small as feeding a child.”
Maryl Walters, from St. Louis, Missouri, is a longtime Christian Science practitioner and member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. In addition to speaking to audiences in the US and internationally, Mrs. Walters has advanced degrees in Theological Studies and represents the Church of Christ, Scientist, at the US National Council of Churches. She also participates in several other local and national ecumenical and interfaith organizations between lecturing engagements.
